mystery vegetable

My brother and his wife also belong to a CSA. Theirs is a vegetable CSA run by a group of Amish families. All of the correspondence is done through real mail. Letters in envelopes with stamps. (I'll be keeping my computer, thanks)


They received this mystery vegetable this week. So it's something local to Michigan.... any answers and help in preparation?

This is the biggest I can make this picture. I am typing on hubby's netbook. My computer is under some type of construction. I have no access to photo and can't upload the ones I am taking. I also can't access some things that need passwords. I can't remember all the passwords and rely on the computer to remember them for me. It may be a hard few days at our house!
