sewing seeds skirt project

I should have mentioned this before, so others could participate. At this point, you'd have to be a super fast sewer and happen to have supplies on hand to still participate this round. EDITED TO CHANGE: She changed the deadline to the following Friday- Friday, March 9, 2010. You still have a few days.

Randi, at I Have To Say, is heading up a project she calls Sewing Seeds, based on this passage:

"Sow the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of my love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you."---Hosea 10:12

She has asked her readers and sewing community to make a skirt that will be donated to girls in Haiti. Here are her words about who the skirts are going to and her sweet thoughts about the boys:

"My friends are Mennonite and so are the missionaries. They serve in a number of ways, but they do serve lunch to over 100 schoolchildren every single day (that was the number prior to the earthquake). Many of these kids are now without basic necessities. I am so excited that we are able to help in this small way of making skirts for the girls. I have gone back and forth on whether or not to add shorts for boys this time, but my heart tells me to stick with the skirts. This leads me to believe that the boys will be taken care of in another way. That's the way God works in my experience. Do what He leads you to do and all gaps will be filled by Him."

I made up this skirt, which was a work already in progress. I intended to make myself a skirt out of this fabric and never got it finished. The skirts are to be longer than knee length and for children. I measured this one out to be about a 5-6T. In retrospect, this light print is probably not ideal as it will show dirt more than a darker color.


I am trying to make sure that I donate at least one project each month, so this will be my March project. I should be able to write about my January project any day now.
